PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Fleet Mechanic must be experienced at diagnosing and repairing all types of trucks, tractors and trailers.

  • Must be able to diagnose and repair diesel engines with lap top computer.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, air brakes and hydraulic brakes other breakdowns or failures related to truck and trailer repairs.

  • When required, use welding skills and knowledge to perform equipment repairs; this includes overhead, horizontal, and vertical welding skills.

  • Responsible for posting service records.

  • Responsible for maintaining the shop and yard premises.

  • Follow all safety practices and procedures set forth by our company. This includes but is not limited to reporting all incidents, near misses, and unsafe working conditions to your manager.

  • Ensure that all company equipment is maintained in good working order and not abused and in any manner.

  • Exhibit a positive and professional attitude at all times.

  • Be willing to assist other team members when the need arises.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age for DOT covered positions

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

  • Must have a valid, unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver s License (CDL) or a Class A Commercial Learner s Permit (CLP) with ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire, with a driving record satisfactory to established company requirements

  • 5 or more years experience

  • Must have Heavy duty mechanic skills

  • Must have knowledge and application of DOT, EPA, and OSHA rules and regulations

  • Must have own tools

  • MVR satisfactory to the company in order to obtain and maintain required CDL

  • Must be willing to work either an AM or PM shift and required over-time as specific to role

  • Ability for frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting required (up to 50 lbs.).

  • Ability to push and/or pull up to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to work safely

  • Read, write and speak English
