Nestle Maintenance Mechanic - Full Time - 40 HR/WK - Dekalb, IL in DeKalb, Illinois

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that material handling equipment, building mechanical systems and structures is maintained in good working order such that operations are not hindered by inoperable problems and the long-term value of equipment is maintained. The position will be responsible to oversee contractor work and adherence to Nestle safety policies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Workload: Work with department mechanics to review and prioritize equipment and building repairs daily. Perform weekly and monthly review of planned projects and coordinate schedules of in-house and contractor repairs.

Preventative Maintenance: Maintain a list of all preventive maintenance work that is required on equipment and building mechanical systems. Coordinate preventive maintenance as either in-house or contractor work.

Equipment / Building Repair: Work with department mechanics to perform repairs on material handling equipment, racks, mechanical equipment, security & fire systems, etc.

Contractors: Coordinate timing of contractor projects, contractor building access, adherence to Nestle safety policies and completion of contractor work.

Administrative: Review contractor and vendor invoices for proper approval, obtain quotes for contractor work, contractor calls, faxes, order parts, e-mail, voice mail, computer data entry, etc.

Energy/ Repair Costs: Look for ways to reduce operating costs through reduced energy usage or reduced repairs costs from lower cost vendor parts or contractor costs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION LEVEL:

Must be at least 18 years of age

High School Diploma / GED equivalent

Must have reliable transportation to and from work

Successful completion of post offer background checks and drug screen

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which may include early morning/late night hours; Willing to work any day of the week, weekends, Holidays and required over-time as specific to role

Must possess basic math and computer skills

Ability to work safely

Ability to read, write, understand and speak English

Pallet Jack certification preferred

1-2 years of warehouse experience preferred; Freezer/refrigerated environment a plus
