We are currently seeking a Microbiologist position in our Poland Spring, Maine Manufacturing facility.
Day Shift position. Sunday - Wed 7:00am to 5:00pm. Vacation coverage is required
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain quality assurance programs and operate state of the art instrumentation.
Will operate and calibrate test equipment (pH, turbidity, conductivity meters, autoclaves, microscopes, etc.).
Will conduct chromatographic and spectroscopic analyses for bromate and others as required.
Perform necessary wet chemistry procedures and train other technicians on their operation.
Management of Internal Control Plans specific to chemical instrumentation and procedures.
Participate in Microbiology Proficiency Testing Programs.
Ensure that all microbiological lab procedures adhere to Nestle LI s procedures, FDA compliance and other regulatory requirements.
Execute microbiology and chemistry tests on raw materials, water sources, in-process samples, environmental samples, and finished products in accordance with Nestle requirements
Record microbiology and chemistry results, interpret data, and formulate action plans to establish corrective and preventive measures
Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments as required by the ICP / calibration program
Communicate microbiology and chemistry results effectively to all levels of the organization
Flexibility and the desire to work in a fast-paced factory environment are critical for success.
The Poland Spring laboratory operates 7 days per week.
The work schedule is day shift schedule that includes weekend coverage (Sunday Wednesday 0700 1700).
Vacation coverage is required
Strong organizational, data analysis, SOP writing, and record keeping skills as well as acute attention to detail is necessary.
The candidate must have demonstrated proficiencies in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP is a plus
BS degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, or related Science field with relevant coursework in Food Microbiology and Chemistry/Organic Chemistry is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years previous laboratory experience is preferred, preferably in a food or beverage processing operation.
Experience with media prep, plating, aseptic technique, analytical instrumentation, Nestle GLPs, and HACCP/Food Safety is important.
Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check
