Job Title: Ice Cream Maker - Level 3

General Summary: The Ice Cream Maker Level 3 position is responsible for safely freezing and filling containers in accordance with product specifications. This position includes operating, cleaning, and preventative maintenance of ice cream freezers, fillers, and fruit feeders, variegate pumps, metal detectors, check weighers, coders, wrappers and vision scanners. The operator is also responsible for the inclusion of particulates and variegates at specification levels and within quality guidelines. Accountable for overall production line performance: safety, quality, cost, attainment, and line efficiency. Ice Cream Maker Level 3 position must also be capable of performing convocan Operator and ICM 2 responsibilities such as flavoring mixes and operating, cleaning, and preventative maintenance activities for convocan equipment and palletizing processes.

Actively participate in NCE (Nestle Continuous Excellence) including participation in operational reviews and problem solving initiatives. Support and participate in NQMS (Nestle Quality Management Systems) activities and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete transactions in SAP (consumptions, transfers, reversals etc).

Update SHO boards, complete shift hand off at SHO boards.

Participate and lead in GSTDs.

Operate and clean assigned equipment.

Make adjustments to ice cream freezer temperature, viscosity, air mixture, and flow of mix.

Responsible for the flow of mix from mix tanks to flavor vats to freezer to filler.

Responsible for the operation of the metal detector, vision scan and kick off: proper settings per flavor and calibrate, verify proper functioning and document as required.

Set-up pumps and fruit feeders to deliver inclusions at product specification levels

Monitor fruit feeder; variegate; pumps (give directions to other employees as required).

Safely and properly clear machine jams.

Observe machine operation to detect malfunction. Troubleshoot and make operator adjustments on freezer and fillers during production. Take corrective action as necessary.

Complete pre-start checklist

Set up, monitor, and maintain the code date equipment: verify codes; proper coding; adjust as necessary; and change code as necessary for product changeovers.

Complete quality checks: net weights; inclusion levels and distribution; metal detector; packaging verification; ingredient magnets; Vision scanner; chocolate weights; and other product specific requirements.

Work in cold environments periodically (approx. 20 deg F)

Complete Kleanz sheet.

Participate in troubleshooting of micro and environmental issues.

Ensure safe handling of allergen and non-GMO ingredients/finished products.

Responsible for training new Ice Cream Maker Level 1, 2 and 3.

Support mix making as needed with batch staging.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience:

Two years of related experience or one year of Ice Cream Maker I and 2 experience preferred.

Competencies:

Possess verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions and correspondences. Ability to learn technical terminology.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to troubleshoot equipment failure.

Ability to work well with others.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to make independent decisions.

Ability to plan and prioritize work.
