Reporting and Analytics Analyst

We are currently seeking a Customer Insights Analyst to be located in either Stamford, CT or New York, NY and report to the Senor Manager of Data & Insights. This newly created role will lead the generation of current sales, marketing and customer-related insights, and the translation of these insights into forward-looking customer strategies.

Position Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting studies to evaluate the corporate impact resulting from business strategies, client needs and/or changes in the market

  • Analyzing strategic options for various business units, and making recommendations for performance optimization based on analysis of operational and financial implications

  • Participating in requirements gathering, analysis, design and development of current and future BI initiatives

  • Working with internal management teams and external clients to understand and define data requirements

  • Creating front-end reports and queries to provide data access to business users

  • Perform in-depth research and analysis regarding

  • RFM (retention, frequency, monetary impact) analyses

  • Cohort analyses

  • Customer lifetime value (LTV) and customer segmentation

  • Revenue (promotions etc.)

  • Consumer behavior, cross-sale opportunities

  • Impact of new product functionality on conversion rates

  • Other aspects of the values chain that are important to the business

  • Automate manual or sub-optimal business processes and analyses

  • Studying customer behavior and given our technical landscape, proposing ways to improve revenue etc.

  • Improve Data culture - Identification of new data sources; improvement of current ways we use data, etc.

  • Create transparency by delivering insights everywhere make data ubiquitous through reports and insights

  • Participate in code reviews and data warehouse design discussions

  • Assist with ad hoc reporting needs

  • Write, document, test, and maintain SQL scripts




Required Skills / Competencies

  • Solid understanding of data: how to organize it, how to model it, how to distill insights from it, and how to visualize it

  • Intellectual curiosity; ability to draw connections and understand the whys as well as the whats in the data

  • Good technical, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Eagerness to learn and ability to adapt

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to build trust and relationships with data users and internal work groups

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders within the Field Sales organization, while keeping a focus on main priorities and critical initiatives

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills required

  • Strong quantitative, data tabulation and analytic skills

  • Demonstrated keen sense of detail and accuracy

  • Solid communication skills (interpersonal, written and oral)

  • Excellent SQL skills (preferably experienced using analytic functions including partition windows)

  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables at a minimum)

  • Familiarity with data warehouse design principles (OLAP, star schema fundamentals), familiarity with ETL concepts a plus

  • Strong analytical/modeling skills with ability to convert raw data into actionable business insights

Experience / Background:

  • 5 years of related work experience in Business Intelligence analysis and reporting

  • Prior Experience working with leading BI reporting tools

  • CPG, Retail, CRM, or B2C e-commerce background a plus

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, mathematics, statistics, information systems, computer science, or other quantitative field

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent SQL skills (coding by hand; proficient at using analytic functions including partition windows)

  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables at a minimum)

  • Familiarity with data warehouse design principles (OLAP, star schema fundamentals)

  • Power BI
